Moshan Scenic Area is one of the core attractions within Wuhan’s East Lake Scenic Area. Surrounded by water on three sides and connecting six peaks, it blends natural landscapes with Chu cultural heritage. As a National AAAAA Tourist Attraction, it is free to the public. The East Lake Eye, a 88-meter-tall pink Ferris wheel located at the foot of Moshan, offers 360-degree panoramic views of East Lake. Known for its romantic symbolism (a full rotation takes 13 minutes and 14 seconds) and stunning vistas, it has become a viral landmark in Wuhan.

Natural and Cultural Features

Named for its millstone-like shape, Moshan covers approximately 14.37 square kilometers, with 2.7 square kilometers of water and 4.51 square kilometers dedicated to botanical gardens. The area is famed for its lakeside setting, described as "a 10-mile-long lake and 8-mile-long Moshan."
Rich in Chu culture, it houses historical sites like Chu City, Chu Market, Chutian Tower, and the Lisao Monument, forming China’s largest Chu cultural tourism zone.
Botanical Gardens and Landscapes

Features 13 themed botanical gardens, including the world-renowned Cherry Blossom Garden (one of the top three cherry blossom destinations globally), the East Lake Plum Garden (China’s largest), and gardens dedicated to lotuses, azaleas, and more, ensuring year-round blooms.
The Zhubei Pavilion at the summit displays an inscription by Zhu De: "East Lake may now pale next to West Lake, but it will one day surpass it." The peak offers sweeping views of East Lake.
Visitor Experience

Recommended activities include cycling, hiking, or taking a cable car to explore Chu cultural sites and natural scenery. The area also offers recreational facilities like a toboggan slide.

The 88-meter Ferris wheel features air-conditioned cabins with Bluetooth speakers. Its pink exterior complements cherry blossom season, making it a romantic hotspot.
A full rotation lasts 13 minutes and 14 seconds, symbolizing "a lifetime" (1314 in Chinese sounds like "一生一世"). Nighttime light shows enhance its charm.
Location and Surroundings

Situated in Moshan’s "Happy Forest" zone, near the East Lake Greenway, Cherry Blossom Garden, and Chu cultural sites. Riders enjoy views of Moshan, East Lake, and Wuhan’s skyline.
Tickets are available on-site without reservations, ideal for families, couples, and photographers.
Tips for Visitors

Best visited during cherry blossom season (March-April) or at sunset. Combine with Chu cultural sites and cycling along the East Lake Greenway for a half-day immersive experience.
