GUIDE OF VISIT

Guiyuan Temple
Guiyuan Temple, located in Hanyang District, Wuhan, is a renowned Buddhist temple with a history spanning over 350 years. Built in 1658 during the Qing Dynasty under the guidance of monk Bai Guang, it is one of the oldest and most culturally significant temples in Hubei Province. Known as the "Temple of Original Purity," it embodies traditional Chinese architectural styles and serves as a spiritual hub for both locals and tourists.

Wuhan Oceanwide CityLane
Wuhan Oceanwide CityLane is a large-scale cultural-commercial complex located in the Guiyuan Temple area of Hanyang District. With a total investment of over 30 billion RMB and a planned construction area of 2.4 million square meters, it combines low-density open-air commercial streets, luxury hotels, offices, and residential spaces. The project aims to fuse Jingchu cultural heritage with modern urbanism, creating a "cultural corridor" that revitalizes the historical district.

Guiyuan Temple

Guiyuan Temple covers an area of 153 acres and consists of five courtyards, with the Great Hall (Daxiong Baodian) as its centerpiece. This hall houses a statue of Sakyamuni Buddha flanked by disciples Ananda and Kasyapa. The temple is a national key cultural site and attracts over 3 million visitors annually. During the Lunar New Year and other festivals, it hosts the "Guiyuan Temple Fair," a 300-year-old event recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage. The temple integrates spiritual practices with cultural activities, such as morning and evening sutra recitations by monks.
Adjacent to the temple, the Temple Front Square serves as a prime photo spot and venue for cultural markets, blending historical ambiance with modern vitality.

Architectural and Cultural Integration
The complex is divided into eight plots, with Phase 1 (20,000 sqm) opening on April 27, 2024. It preserves and restores three historical buildings: the Holy Mother Hall, Sacred Heart Hall, and Embroidery Hall. The architectural style "Jingchu Through Time" blends traditional elements like upturned eaves and bamboo-weave facades with modern glass structures, reflecting a dialogue between past and present.
Commercial and Functional Layout
Cultural and Commercial Blend: The project integrates tourism, retail, and cultural innovation, featuring international brands, niche boutiques, and experiential spaces. Phase 1 introduced over 60 lifestyle brands, including regional debuts like "Shancheng Lao Pao" (fresh beef skewers) and "Huomen American BBQ".
Public Spaces: Key highlights include the Temple Front Square, Central Garden (designed by British and French landscape teams), and the "Bamboo Square" by architect Amata Luphaiboon. Underground spaces connect to Metro Line 4, forming a seamless pedestrian flow.
Innovative Design: The complex includes a 1,800-meter "City Deck" linking the Guiyuan area to the Yangtze River waterfront, offering panoramic views. Health-centric residential towers and a luxury hotel designed by Kengo Kuma further enhance its appeal.
Challenges and Vision
Despite comparisons to Chengdu’s Taikoo Li, Oceanwide CityLane currently lacks high-end luxury brands, positioning itself as a "mid-tier" cultural-commercial hub. Its success is seen as pivotal to Oceanwide Group’s financial restructuring amid recent liquidity challenges.
